So you want to know more about me, eh? No problem, since I’m just an ordinary man -with extraordinary qualities. :)

Here is my simple facts

  • My name is Basfin Siregar
  • I was born on September 4th, 1977
  • I have a BA degree in English from University of Diponegoro
  • I’m married and living in Jakarta
  • I currently work as a journalist for Gatra news magazine

Where my hometown is

I grew up in Kaliwungu, a small village about 20 km west of Semarang. It’s famous for its numbers of traditional Islamic boarding schools (aka pesantren salaf).

What traditions (I think) influence me

  • Nahdlatul Ulama
  • Sufism
  • Existentialism

What I look like

This photo was taken in 1998. An old photo isnt’it? But dont worry, my face doesnt change much. I still look like the photo above.

And dont misjudge the smoking-style. I wasnt acting like a philosopher or a poet. I was simply acting to daydream when the shot was taken.

What I like

I like reading, writing, watching film and listening to music. I also enjoy coffee and smoke a lot. In fact, I’m quite a heavy smoker.

But I dont do drugs, beer, or wine. It’s HARAM.
